How come people use fwar isntead of BBwar? What's the difference between the two?

I just look at fangraphs out of habit. The difference is how they evaluate defense.

How come people use fwar isntead of BBwar? What's the difference between the two?

The primary difference is rWar (i.e. BBref War) uses DRS for defense and fWar (Fangraphs version) uses UZR for defense for position players. For pitchers the primary difference is that it rWar uses an ERA basis (adjusted) and fWar uses a FIP basis. It's my belief that DRS is a superior metric to UZR and is especially better than UZR for outfielders, so I generally go with rWAR.
