The sadder thing is that I don't see him as our #5...I see him as our #3.

Brady's boy.

He moved to the other side of the mound. He'll be fine.

I have a 13 game plan. I will literally trade in every game he pitches if I have tickets to those. I may not watch him at home on tv either.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Brady is developing quite a player improvement resume. Reimold, Matusz and now Wright.

How can someone write an article like this with a straight face? You'd expect this kind of crap from MASN.

So freaking what, he developed a bond with Brady. I coached soccer for many years. And I had some good players, some not so good, and a couple that were absolute studs. And I developed bonds with every single one of them.

But at the end of the day my responsibility was to the club. If a player got to a level where they just didn't cut it then I had to move on. Bond or not. Sure it was hard. But I wasn't doing anybody any good if I strung players along that just didn't cut it.

The only reason guys like Castro/Cortes and Wright get a chance is because we don't have starting pitching.  These guys haven't earned a spot in the rotation.  They're on the plus end of a Dan Duquette sleepwalk through the offseason.

If you really thought that Castro could start, don't you let him do that in AAA?

Poor roster management is what this is.

Because it's the Orioles, I'm truly afraid that a trade is going to happen that won't make a realist happy.

I see us trading off multiple players for a couple of "innings eaters" that won't make much of a difference.

Yeah, unfortunately that's probably true, too.  With Machado, though, I put the chances of resigning him at 0%, and the chance of contending in 2018 without pitching upgrades also at 0%.  So you basically have to trade him.  With Schoop, maybe it's wishful thinking, but I give the O's at least a small chance of extending him, as well as contending in 2019 (very small chance there).  So there's at least an argument for holding onto Schoop this year.  With Machado, the only reason to keep him is to keep fans from cancelling their 2018 tickets.

If Wright is your fifth starter you should have called Guthrie, Rodrigo Lopez, and Steve Trachsel in that order because they are better.

I am pretty sure Shack is thinking of PBR.

Poor roster management is what this is.

IMO, he has phoned in the last 4.

His own stated goals at the end of last season was to add

2 to 3 starters- to date none

a back up catcher - nope unless you count the suck guy they traded for.

A utility infielder -nope

A right fielder - nope

a left handed bat - nope - could be combined with the one above but still a nope.

Strengthen the BP-  again nope and it got worse when Britton got hurt.  And if they move Castro to  the pen even weaker.

I know Angelos is awful, but for them to go into camp accomplishing none of the above is really unbelievable.  Only under Angelos would a GM that has accomplished so little in  the last 4 off seasons be allowed to run out the string.

Good news in an article in The Sun this morning John Lackey was mentioned as a possibility!

Honestly, Lackey and Feldman are good depth targets.
