B1G is a quality conference that has been mostly below average since we've gotten here. ACC isn't just better, it's substantially better.

B1G Conference RPI / MD's Ranking in the B1G

2014-2015: 5th / 2nd

2015-2016: 5th / 4th

2016-2017: 4th / 3rd

2017-2018: 6th / 7th

That's not good enough. It just isn't.

Beyond their rankings within the conference, even when we've been good (i.e. when Melo was here), things got worse as the season went on.  Melo's freshman year the team was undoubtedly better than expected.  That year has to go down as a quality year for Turgeon.  But even in that season, we shocked everyone by jumping out immediately and being very good, but backslid a bit as the year went on.

The next year, we were a top-5 team because of all the talent.  And we all know how that team underachieved, ending up with a lower seed than the year before.

Last year I think being a #6 seed was a fine result based on expectations and the roster.  But again, the way they went about it was annoying, starting off strong and then basically turning into a pumpkin as the season got longer.  Getting that #6 seed also felt very fortunate, most of us thought 8-10 seed, and were all super nervous when we were down to the final 6/11 pairing and MD hadn't been announced yet.

Officially done with Turgeon.

There is too much talent on the floor for them to get ran out of the gym like this.  The hallmark of Mark Turgeon's MD teams is that of a consistent underachiever.  I mean, they had what 4 starters in the ESPN Top 100 coming out? They need to be better than this.

Turgeon would do well at a mid-major like a CIncinatti or Xavier.  He might do well at a school like Alabama or Ole Miss.  He shouldn't run a program at a basketball program like Maryland.

Xavier would be a promotion. MD is basically a mid-major. They've achieved like one for the last 15 years.
