Wisconsin-Notre Dame to meet at Lambeau Field in 2020, Soldier Field in 2021

Glad to see these two play for the first time since 1964, but I have mixed feeling about the sites-think a true home-and-home at two of the best environments in college football would only add to the event.

Florida suspends 7 players for Michigan game, including best wide receiver

A break for the Wolverines-Florida's offense is challenged enough without losing perhaps their best playmaker

Iowa's Paulsen twins draw comparison to Slap Shot's Hanson brothers

When asked if they knew who the Hanson brothers were, one of the twins said, "The singers, right?" SMH

The Big 10 vs. Conference USA

There are 5 games in weeks 2 and 3 between schools from those two conferences, and SB Nation's predicts two Big 10 losses.

Ron Harper Jr. commits to Rutgers

I'm killing the Rutgers football team, but hoops could soon be a different matter.  His dad is the Ron Harper that played on some of the Chicago Bulls championship teams in the 1990's

These neutral site games are the thing nowadays. The NFL teams that operate and derive income from their stadiums need as many events in them as they can get, and pay the colleges accordingly. While on-campus would be my preferred venue too, if this is what it takes to get quality matchups, I'm all for it. At least the fans of these two programs won't have to travel immense distances to see them.

Agreed Mike, I'd rather see that kind of situation than not have them play.

Who are the top athletic directors in the nation?

Si put out a ranking I don't recall seeing anytime recently, showing differences in media and other AD rankings.

Kind of hard to believe this is already Y4 in the Big Ten.  Appreciate the provided history.

Which college football teams are always overrated?

Five Thirty Eight did an analysis of the last 20 years, seeing where teams were ranked in the preseason vs. where they ended.  No surprise Notre Dame was the most overrated, but I was surprised at the strong Big 10 presence near the top of the list.

Thanks Chris, it was a lot of fun digging that up, and still I only scratched the surface.  The Big 10 has laid a lot of the foundation for the game of college football and beyond.

And of course the Big Ten was the first conference to have its own branded cable network. ($$$$)

Also if I'm not mistaken, while they no longer compete in athletics, the University of Chicago is still a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance (formerly known as the Committee on Institutional Cooperation), which was a big selling point for skeptical UM faculty when joining the Big Ten.

The University of Chicago is not listed as a current member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance Mike, but I do remember the strength of the academics of the conference schools was toughed, and rightfully so, when Maryland made the move.

Football uniform updates for the Big 10

Paul Lukas's latest Uniwatch column for ESPN covers the updates for each conference this season.  As you might expect, Maryland goes way out there, this year with a homecoming throwback celebrating the 125th season-reminds me a little much of the Steeler's infamous "bumblebeee" throwbacks.

Hmmm, I thought they had always remained a member of that group.

EDIT: I see now, looked it up. Last year when they changed the name from CIC to BTAA the University of Chicago was removed from the group as an official member, though they still partner in some ways.

Mentioned it in the other thread, but that Michigan / Florida game will be a nice W for either conference.

Interested in seeing all of the Wolverines youth.

I plan on doing a preview where I'll discuss some of this week's games that I think could matter in terms of building up a conference's Playoff resume, besides the obvious ones (AL-FSU and FL-MI).

Michigan unveils all-maize uniform for Florida game

History will judge if this was a good idea.  I don't think history will be kind.  Apparently they last wore them in 1928-pre color, or any other type, of television

BTW, if you can't get enough of Jim Harbaugh, and he apparently thinks you can't, he's hosting a weekly podcast called "Attack Each Day: The Jim Harbaugh Podcast.

More Harbaugh-he has grudgingly released most of the Wolverines roster after a public records request by NJ.com.  College rules regarding release of information are a lot softer than those in the NFL.  No rule against being a jerk, either, it appears.

Jim Harbaugh makes his brother look like a tolerable, even likable guy. Can you imagine how hard a task that would be for a normal person?
