The same Chicago Fire that lost to FC Cinncy last week in the US Open Cup playoff. MLS needs to get FCC a MLS franchise.....and like now. They deserve to be playing in the big time and their attendance is huge.  They are averaging almost 20k/match!

They'll never get a publicly funded stadium. Unless they go across the river. But FCC is awesome. I can't wait to get out to a game.

Thanks for posting Markus. No doubt in my mind that Nashville will get picked by MLS. They went from a southern city with zero hockey background to an insane NHL franchise/fanbase. Soccer has a much larger original base in the area than hockey by far. And the near 48K fans they had on Saturday to watch the MNT (at well less than full strength) was really good.

Typical news headline though. The rejection had nothing to do with promotion/relegation. MLS rejected the idea because they negotiate their broadcasting deals directly with the broadcasters (which makes sense). Still I sure wish they would instill relegation!

However, I do think that the promotion side of the equation could have some extra criteria instilled mainly minimum average attendance. You can't take a USL or NASL team that is averaging some small number and then promote them and expect them to then up their salary levels to make MLS minimums. Certainly there would be some automatic uptick in revenue to a team moving up (TV, jersey sales, and increased attendance) but you have to have some way to balance those numbers.

Its not like the EPL which has such huge revenue. I think its workable just have to be smart about it.

Without P/R, MLS is artificially limiting the ceiling on the fanbase that it can realistically build in the US.
