Especially liked the FOX Sports preview of each team. What is lost on many casual fans is the toll playing in the Champions or Europa Leagues have on teams and how it affects their respective league campaigns. Playing two matches a week in the EPL is very very difficult. Same for the Bundesliga and Seire A. But add in European competitions its just an entirely higher level of difficulty to maintain that level of play AND to be injury free.

Then on top of that the top players for all these clubs are key players for their home countries as well. With FIFA WC qualifying dates set for September, October, November, and March there is just no rest for the top players.

My matches to watch for the weekend:

Saturday - Everton hosts Tottenham (10 EDT on CNBC)

Sunday - Arsenal hosts Liverpool (1055 EDT on NBCSports)

Unfortunately with the Olympics on NBC there will only be limited EPL coverage this weekend.

Also, if folks are looking to see Mourinho and Guardiola get going with their new clubs, City host Sunderland tomorrow (12:30 on CNBC), and United play Bournemouth on Sunday (8:25 a.m. on NBCSN).

Well the Everton - Tottenham game was very entertaining. Everton fans will say that Tottenham stole a point on the road. Fact is Tottenham had the better of the match. They really pressed forward the last 30 minutes and had several great chances.

In the 80th minute and 83rd minute the Everton keeper made two incredible stops. In fact Stekelenburg was named the MOTM. If you get a chance to watch any EPL highlights please do. I am sure these two saves will be right at the top for saves of the week.

Hull City over LEI 2-1.

For you trivia fans this game just became an answer to a question.

Leicester becomes the first EPL reigning champion to lose their first game of the season!

Well Man U started out quite well taking 3 on the road from Bournemouth. Pretty clinical game. Well controlled the pace and made the opportunities they needed to.  Ibramahovic clearly likes playing up top with Rooney behind him. They both scored goals today and except for a good save from teh Bournemouth keeper Zlatan would have had two.

Arsenal and Liverpool up next. Both teams are missing some key players. Still expect Arsenal to handle Liverpool.

Gunners 2 - Reds 1.....just a guess.....wouldn't be surprised to see the Gunners win with a clean sheet.

Well headed out for a bit so will miss the rest of the match with Liverpool leading 3-1. Three things we learned today.

1. Arsenal's injuries have them even weaker than some of us thought.

2. Liverpool is playing pretty well for a first game road trip.

3. I don't know squat.

Just finished watching the ESPNFC show. They liked both Man U and Liverpools wins. Especially Liverpool.

Their point was simple -  "I don't care who you are playing, when you score 4 goals on the road in the EPL you have had a helluva game."

The early start to the weekend result saw United dispatch visiting Southampton 2-0 and go top; Ibrahimovic took care of the scoring, and Pogba played the entire match.

As I said in my preview and after watching the first match.....Ibrahimovic is a difference maker and having Pogba in the midfield to me has to make the Red Devils one of the league favorites.

But Man City also looks really good just finished off Stoke 3-1. Aguero with 2 scores.
