The possibilities for Jomar Reyes are endless, if he can stay healthy. http://baltimorespor...ct-jomar-reyes/

He had conditioning during the off-season and I think lost ~20 lbs. Even if he moves to 1B, he can still justify his value being there with his bat.

My 2080 report on Jomar to start the 2016 season: http://2080baseball..../jomar-reyes-2/

Hoping that as the year goes on, his recognition of secondary pitches improves, which could happen with repetition. For as good as he was last year, the injuries have forced him to make up for lost time, so it's easy to understand if he starts off a little slow in that area.

Watched him again tonight. Trying to do too much at the plate. Made a nice jumping catch at third base, but didn't have too move much.

It may be early, but the initial returns from Jomar Reyes have to be giving the Baltimore Orioles some reason for optimism.

If he continues to hit well, he becomes a legit trade piece.

It will be interesting to see how high the team values him when the deadline comes around, if he continues to hit well.

I purposely didn't focus on the trade angle in the article, but I will say here that I agree that he could be a trade piece. Should it come to that, I'll be interested to see whether other organizations view him as a bat-first third baseman, or a player who will need to be moved sooner rather than later.

MASN:

Farm notes: Single-A Frederick third baseman Jomar Reyes is expected to have surgery this week. He’ll have a pin inserted in his broken right pinky finger and is likely be out for six to eight weeks.

Reyes’ injury was first reported by my MASNSports.com colleague Roch Kutbatko, who reported over the weekend that the injury happened when Reyes punched a wall. A Major League Baseball source confirms that report. It reportedly happened after Friday’s game, when Reyes had two hits and drove in two runs.

The injury comes at a time when the 20-year-old Reyes is off to a solid start for the Keys. Over 21 games, he’s batting .321/.361/.436 with six doubles, a homer and 10 RBIs.

Should bump him back to Delmarva for a week or two when he gets back.  Stupid actions have consequences.

He had 2 hits and 2 ribbies... it's not like he wore a sombrero...

Do we know why he punched the wall?

Hopefully that's a lesson learned in stupidity that wont impact his playing ability/development and that he'll learn from for the rest of his life.
