Yeah, I was sure that Miz/DB was set up for Summerslam (because it's -that- big), but I guess not.

The DB bump from Joe...that actually made me feel good in a way. Like, ok, he's really ALL OF THE WAY BETTER. He can even handle the occasional botch (and given that Joe's been known as an excellent worker, those botches will be rare), so let's just sit back and enjoy.

Yea, I guess that is one way to look at it.

It is clear that Joe knew it was a botch  He definitely paused to give Bryan a minute and to probably make sure he was ok.

Anyone ever see the Vader/Stan Hansen match in Japan?

Both wrestlers were notorious for being stiff workers and boy did it ever show. At one point during the match, one of Vader's eyes popped out of its socket. *pukes*

R.I.P.

Hansen talked about that in his HOF speech.  They both took pride in that match.

RIP Vader

From Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer:

"WWE has made a working agreement, at least at this point, with Pro Wrestling NOAH. Not sure what it entails, but it is notable being the first time in decades that the company has worked with a Japanese promotion. Right now the first thing with the deal is Itami returning to NOAH for an 8/29 show."

That's a shot across ROH and NJPW's bow if ever I saw one. Also, Impact (TNA) is allowing WWE to use footage from their archives. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see NOAH and Impact eventually establish a full partnership with WWE.

Interesting.  I think this may be HHH pushing this through.

I am HERE for the Velveteen Dream/Hulk Hogan/MVP beef. LOLOLOLOL

ETA, I don't -really- think it's beef, but it's fun nonetheless.

It's still just as crazy. I can't believe he did that to himself.

But real talk, that made Mick Foley a TON of money.

My brother read his book and told me that the cage wasn't supposed to break when he was choke slammed through it. He was also concussed and doesn't remember most of the match. Probably for the better.

It is just unreal.

I read Foley's first two books, and they're both fantastic. Foley Is Good is especially great, until the end where he kinda goes all tangent-y, but that's another story.

If you look at Taker after Foley goes through the ring, he's legit shaken up. Same for when he hits the table. You can tell that, for a moment, that -really- messed him up. I bet he thought, for a second, that he legit paralyzed him.

Certainly not in the top 5 in style but at the very top in wrestling folk lore.

20 years ago, wow.  Every wrestling fan has watched all or parts of this.  Thanks for sharing.

Do you think that Mankind in that match was the first "Holy shit" moment in WWF/E? I mean, Hogan slamming Andre, Montreal screw job, some iconic moments, some better matches have taken place. Maybe they get the "holy shit" chant had that been around then. But this might have been the first time that wrestling suspended your disbelief. I wonder where this ranks as far as WWF/E moments goes? There is a lot of criteria you could base a list of "best moments" on.

If Mick flying off and through the cell tops the WWF/E list, then he also tops the list of ECW "holy shit" moments as well for three little words. "Gimme a chair".

It may well have been the first.

Foley, had little in ring talent, but he had no fear, and did as much crazy stuff than anyone.  I am sure he still feels the pain to this day, but he made serious money for it.

So Lesnar shows up at UFC over the weekend but continues to be MIA in WWE. He better be dropping the belt at Summer Slam it's past time to move on.

Lol, I told my wife this a week or two ago, I laughed out loud on the phone, and told her there was this team that literally drew a B in sharpie on a white tshirt and WWE will make a couple million dollars off it.
